About Mrs. Fowler |
Hi! I'm Mary Anne Fowler and I'm excited to be a part of ELA's fantastic 4th grade teaching team! Here's a little bit about myself:
I attended Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah and went on to Weber State University where I was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Sales. I have also been granted a K-6 Elementary Education license through the Utah State Board of Education. Prior to having children, my husband and I spent two years in the Japanese Alps, teaching English in area elementary and junior high schools for the Japanese Board of Education. Upon returning home, I worked at Franklin Covey as a sales executive, consulting with clients to facilitate trainings and educational coaching for The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I have loved the idea of Early Light Academy from the beginning and even served on the acquisition and safety committees as construction on the school commenced. My oldest daughter was in the first grade when ELA opened its doors. Later in 2013-2014, when my youngest entered first grade, I was hired as a substitute teacher. Soon after that, I was invited to join the Special Education department and since then I have spent thousands of hours working with students from kindergarten to 9th grade in every subject offered at ELA. My educational philosophy centers on the belief that every child has unlimited potential and as such, has a right to respect, love, and kindness in my classroom. I have high expectations for every student, but I also realize that each student is on his or her own journey and I will honor their social and educational victories accordingly. I love children. I love the energy they exude. I love the honesty and genuine friendship they offer. My goal is to help my students gain a love and passion for learning, personal growth, and accountability. During my spare time, I enjoy working in my flowerbeds and watching my roses grow. I also love dark chocolate, reading, and going to the movies (just to eat the popcorn!). I have been married to my husband, Matt for 25 years and we have 3 fantastic children, all of whom have attended ELA Off we go!! |
